Sensitivity analysis of a mathematical model of a Human population affected by HIV/AIDS Disease in Rivers State of Nigeria. – C. Ugwu and E. Ekaka-a
A mathematical model of a human population which has been affected by HIV/AIDS disease in Rivers State of Nigeria has been formulated and analysed. We considered how to determine the sensitivity analysis of the model parameters which define this complex system of continuous nonlinear first order ordinary differential equations. On the basis of this numerical simulation sensitivity analysis, we have found that the duration of the spread of HIV/AIDS which is specified as a time parameter is the most sensitive parameter. The next two relatively sensitive parameters are the study area population and the new entrants at a random rate while the starting population sizes are classified as the relatively least sensitive parameters. These new contributions are expected to provide further insights which can be used by health experts in the mitigation of HIV/AIDS in Rivers State of Nigeria.
